1. Raw, plant-based cuisine and mindful present awareness practice

The benefits of adopting a  raw, plant-based lifestyle are countless, and yet many people find the idea intimidating or impractical. This is not the case at all, as you will learn during the retreat! A raw, plant-based lifestyle is a wonderful and easy way to improve your health, appearance and overall well being.

Cooking food at temperatures above 48 degrees Celcius destroys vital enzymes our body needs to thrive, as well as changes our food on a molecular level, removing beneficial nutrients and vitamins.

A raw plant-based diet will enrich your body with all of the nutrients and enzymes it needs, and the good news is that raw food isn’t only about eating salads (although we’ll have many scrumptious salads together during the retreat!) As a holistic plant based nutrition expert I have a vast wealth of knowledge, recipes, tips and tricks that I will share with you during the retreat. Through” how to” demonstrations and educational talks, you will learn about how to embrace and maintain a holistic, intuitive, plant-based lifestyle at home that will leave you looking and feeling better than ever before. 

All meals are gluten-free, plant-based/vegan and made from locally-sourced, organic produce wherever possible and mostly raw but you would never say! 

2. Yoga and meditation

We will start every day with yoga in a gentle class that is suitable for all levels and end with a very soft meditation. As an 800hr yoga teacher, I will guide you through sequences designed to heal, restore and detoxify. These deep stretches will be combined with meditations that will allow you to be fully present with yourself and your surroundings, relax deeply, and fully absorb the healing benefits of your daily practice.

3. Cacao Ceremony and Chakra Dance Celebration

Embody your soul fully through a spontaneous dance through the chakras, a deeply healing and balancing experience. Before the conscious dance celebration, we will consume ceremonial cacao – a powerful tool to go deeper into your journey within. Cacao has been used for over 3000 years in ancient ceremony to assist in energetic shift, opening your heart and soul to higher vibrations and providing deep clarity. This will go together with the chakra dance celebration – a free dance that is vibrationally connected to your chakras through guided imagery. This process allows us to release blockages, creating healing and transformation through a dynamic moving meditation.

4. Sound Journey

Using sound healing in the form of forks and Tibetan sound bowls, we help the body shift stuck energy so that you can free the body to heal naturally on a cellular level. This will happen during one of our daily yoga classes.

5. Excursions

There are numerous outdoor and adventurous excursions in and around the venues that are easy to access, as well as plenty of hidden secrets and local villages to explore. This includes taking a gondola tour through the beautiful canals of Aveiro in my July retreats, or exploring the historic city of Lisbon in August.

My name is Kym.

First and foremost, I am a healer. Decades ago I healed myself from what was then a life-long, deeply traumatic eating disorder. Through raw, plant-based nutrition and a deeply intuitive, mindful lifestyle, I was able to completely transform my life and I now help others to do the same.

My greatest teacher was on own journey to self-healing, but I am also a highly qualified professional in the field of health, food, nutrition and overall holistic wellbeing. As an 800 hour yoga teacher and meditation guide with various diplomas and certificates in alternative healing modalities including a Professional Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine, Raw Food Mastery & Culinary Medicine, I have a wealth of knowledge and expertise on all aspects of conscious living.

My soul purpose is to help others heal and shift into the healthiest, happiest versions of themselves. By embracing a raw, plant-based diet and mindful eating practices I have completely transformed my own health and wellbeing, and through these retreats I help other women and men do the same.

Location

Quinta Galegas is a rural retreat nestled in a beautiful river valley in the Beiras region of Portugal.

The house, gardens and natural swimming lake have been designed to provide a space for visitors to unwind and indulge themselves in a place that has abundant natural beauty combined with the comforts of a beautiful 18th century country house. This idyllic venue is set in 5 acres of land that features orange groves, olive trees and expansive organic herb, vegetable and flower gardens.

Nearby Attractions

The retreat centre is located 40 minutes from Aveiro, a seaside town with picturesque canals and many cafes and restaurants. Enjoy a gondola ride or a long walk on the white sandy beaches. Closer to the retreat is a section of the famous Ecopista, a lengthy cycling and walking trail with many cafes and a beautiful river. Here you can hire canoes or hikes, as well as book various other outdoor activities.

Location

Located a mere hour’s drive from Lisbon Airport in the tranquil countryside of Central Portugal lies Quinta Carvalhas.

This idyllic venue is a beautiful and peaceful family-run retreat centre with luxurious accommodation, yoga studios, a meditation garden and a swimming pool. This 42ha working farm produces olive oil and is home to 11 horses, 7 dogs and 16 chickens.

The luxury accommodation is in converted barns and the original Manor House, combining rustic charm with contemporary comforts. There are a variety of units, each uniquely decorated. Experience the peace of the meditation garden and walking meditations to the farm pond.

Nearby Attractions

Located only one hour from Lisbon, there are plenty of things to see and do around Quinta Carvalhas. Explore the rich culture and history of one of Europe’s oldest cities, have a swim at one of its many beaches, or take a tour on the famous Tram 28.
